Kiarash Banai attained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from King’s College London in 1996. He entered General Professional Training working as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During this time he undertook the Membership Examination for the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MFDS RCS) in 1999.
He subsequently entered into higher specialist training as a specialist Registrar in Orthodontics at the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas School of Medicine and Dentistry and St George’s Hospitals in London.
In 2002, Dr Banai completed a Masters in Science degree (MSc) in Orthodontics with a published MSc thesis. After three years in specialist training, he undertook the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. He is on the General Dental Council specialist list in orthodontics.
He has extensive experience both in hospital and specialist practice. He has been involved in postgraduate teaching as a visiting academic and associate clinical teacher at the University of Warwick Dental School and is a specialist practitioner at St George’s Hospital Department of Orthodontics.
His main interests are early treatment, fixed and removable appliance mechanics, multidisciplinary aspect of orthodontics and adult treatment with cosmetic appliances. He is also an active member of the British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society, American Association of Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopaedics and World Federation of Orthodontists.
He is currently a platinum elite II Invisalign provider and has extensive experience in lingual and conventional orthodontic treatments.
